Bio

I am passionate about the promotion of sustainable knowledge-based platforms that emphasise openness of data. I am committed to producing and using high quality research to contribute to improvements in public systems that result in more equitable, open societies.

I am currently looking for doctoral opportunities. My current research explores the possibility of using Natural Language Processing (NLP) on Malawi’s gathered wisdom (proverbs) to understand how worldview informs Malawi’s development trajectory.  I have an MSc in Data Sci, Tech and Innovation from the University of Edinburgh. My previous research explored the possibility of appropriating a tool designed in astronomy (The Zooniverse) to engage citizen historians in a LIMIC setting to tag uncaptioned photos in the National Archives of Malawi

My creative and academic outputs have appeared in several places including The Society of Malawi journal, Africa is a Country and Munyori.  I run Logos Open Culture –  a collective at the intersection of computational technology, and the arts and cultural heritage in Malawi. Outputs include two book publications (third is on the way), and the scoping of the National Archives of Malawi for possible digitalization projects.
